This full-day tour offers you the very best Lima has to offer with a focus primarily on the culture, gastronomy and people of Lima.  With a mix of the must sees, along with off the beaten path stops, this private tour leaves you with a complete overview of five distinctly different districts throughout Lima. Tour with us, and get to know the colorful, flavorful and fun side of this amazing city!

We will begin our day as many Limeños do, with a trip to the local market. We’ll try our best to blend in with all of the hustle and bustle as we walk past the numerous booths and vendors. Your guide will share with you about the experience of shopping in a local market and why they are still thriving despite the entrance of many supermarkets. Your senses will be heightened as you take in all of the new aromas, flavors and sights around you.

Next, we'll stop by the pre-incan pyramid, La Huaca Pucllana, for a brief look into it's past before we head for the Colonial section of Lima. You will note a drastic change in the neighborhoods, buildings and even people as we near the heart of Lima. Once there we will take a moderate walking tour observing architecture from various periods, stately cathedrals, the Presidential Palace and a UNESCO World Heritage site; the San Francisco Convent.

Returning from Lima we will pass through the Parque de Olivar where you will gaze upon a 400+ year old olive grove set in the middle of the contemporary neighborhood of San Isidro. We'll swing by the Parque de Amor (Lovers Park), set upon the sea-side cliffs, and enjoy both the local art and beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean below as parapenters drift over our heads above.

By this point, you will have worked up an appetite, and so we will continue on to our favorite, off of the beaten path, restaurant. Here you will have the opportunity to try the all-famous cebiche, a pisco sour, or one of many other richly prepared Peruvian dishes.  As this nautically themed establishment sits overlooking the Chorrillos Bay, we will finish our ascent of the Morro Solar for some fantastic views of the Coastline and the shanty towns below. Your guide will take this time to share with you about the social-economic divide that exists in Lima as well as history of past battles once fought on the very ground you will stand upon.

We will finish up our day with a walk through Barranco, known for its bohemian culture and festivities. Filled with street vendors, musicians and performers you will once again note a different atmosphere from that of other districts we have visited throughout the day. Of special note will be the bright and colorful works of graffiti art you will see as you stroll along.

If you are up for it, we will even take you to try the best artisan ice creams around. The selection set before you will be difficult, traditional gelato as well as local fruits that have been incorporated into delicious sorbet flavors will be among the many options to choose from… but don’t worry, sample requests are welcome!
